The Royal Canadian Air Force is reaffirming its presence at a major multinational jet pilot training school and placing its fighter lead-in training squadron on hiatus, as the RCAF prepares to transition its frontline fighter from the CF18 to the F35.

One of the first steps in this transition was implementing an interim or ‘bridge’ training program that sees future Canadian fighter pilots conduct their initial fighter training through the Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training (ENJJPT) program at Sheppard Air Force Base in Texas, and other Fighter Lead-in Training (FLIT) programs in Finland and at Italy’s International Flight Training School, where Canada will have two instructors and six students by 2025.

Tizenkét NATO-szövetséges (Belgium, Németország, Görögország, Olaszország, Montenegró, Észak-Macedónia, Románia, Spanyolország, Csehország, Törökország, Magyarország és az Egyesült Királyság) március 25-én megállapodott arról, hogy a NATO Repülési Kiképzés keretében katonai repülési kiképzést hajtanak végre. Az európai (NFTE) kezdeményezést tovább kell terjeszteni a szövetségre.

A nagy horderejű projekt egy multinacionális kezdeményezés, amely különböző típusú pilóták – vadászrepülőgép-pilóták, helikopter- és szállítópilóták, valamint repülőgépeket távrepülő személyzet – számára kialakított kiképzőközpontok hálózatából áll. Ez a kezdeményezés lehetővé teszi az adaptálható kísérleti képzést Európa-szerte, lehetőség szerint a meglévő képzési struktúrák felhasználásával.

A nemzetek együtt dolgoznak az NSPA által elindított KTF támogatási partnerségben. Eddig Görögországban, Magyarországon, Észak-Macedóniában, Csehországban és Olaszországban alakítottak ki kiképzőbázisokat. Az NSPA átveszi a programirányítást és támogatja a különböző képzési bázisok hálózatba szervezését.

Canada Eyes Acquisition of 70 Training Aircraft...
When it comes to the RCAF’s (Royal Canadian Air Force) training requirements, Blair announced that a contract that will remain valid for 25 years would be signed with SkyAlyne Canada Limited Partnership for the Future Aircrew Training (FAcT) Program. According to the official release issued by the Ministry of Defense, the contract is worth CAD 11.2 billion, taxes included (USD 8.22B).
The goal of the agreement is to cover the acquisition of more than 70 training aircraft split into five, type-specific fleets. The types to be acquired include:

• Grob G120TP,
• Pilatus PC-21,
• Beechcraft King Air 260,
• Airbus Helicopters H-135
• De Havilland Dash 8-400, equipped with a mission training system in the cabin.

The new FAcT contract will replace the current in-house training services provided by the RCAF and two existing contracts: a CAD 4.6B (USD 3.38B), 25-year agreement with CAE Military Aviation Training for the NATO Flying Training in Canada program, expiring in 2028, and a CAD 1.8B (USD 1.32B), 22-year contract with Allied Wings for the Contracted Flying Training and Support program, ending in 2027.

With 207 aircraft flying about 250 missions per day, ENJJPT makes Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas, one of the busiest airfields in the Air Force. It is a pilot factory, churning out about 190 undergraduate pilot training (UPT) graduates and about 180 graduates of its Introduction to Fighter Fundamentals and Pilot Instructor Training programs every year. ENJJPT trains half of all U.S. Air Force fighter pilots and is the sole source of fighter pilot training for several NATO allies such as Belgium, Denmark, and Germany.
