Na kezdődik... Lord Cardigan nem passzióból vezette neki a lovasságot az ágyúknak.
Egy rohadt nagy félreértés volt: másik ágyúkra kellett volna rohamozni, ő viszont azokat az ágyúkat nem, csak
a másikokat látta.

Egyébiránt ebből még nem következik, hogy alkalmatlan tisztek lettek volna.

Annyit még ehhez, hogy pont a vásárlás volt hivatott a tisztikartól távol tartani
a gyávákat, szerencselovagokat, képzetleneket.
Vásárolni egyébként csak a gyalogsághoz és lovassághoz tudtad be magad.
A tüzérséghez, műszakiakhoz nem! Ide csak szakmaiság alapján kerülhettél be - ezt kevés
hadsereg mondhatta el magáról a 18.szd-ban...
A csengetés mellett érteni is kellett a dologhoz, nem úgy volt, hogy beugrassz a Horse Guards-hoz és
veszel egy ezredet... egyébként is a legalacsonyabb rendfokozatban kellett kezdeni. Stb.
