"On 3 August 2020, an Antonov An-72 in service with the United Nations experienced difficulties during its landing at Gao (Mali).
The aircraft missed the end of the runway around 10:00 hrs (LT) and came to rest. The cause is not known, but the waether conditions were not optimal, with hard winds and rain showers at the moment of the landing.
A dozen passengers were injured of which one badly. The An-72TK-100, registration RA-74044 (construction number 36547097936) with UN code UNO-052P, is most probably written off. The An-72 was once newly delivered to RDS avia in June 1994. It was modified to An-74-200 with that company in 1996, transferred to Gazpromavia in December 2000 and modified with that company to An-74TK100. It was sold to UTAir Cargo in September 2012 and subsequently leased to the United Nations from September 2013."

ANTONOV Company is interested in development of international projects in field of such type airplanes creation including those in partnership with Canadian companies.
Until present, ANTONOV Company has conducted previous negotiations with Canadian party and discussed possible directions of further cooperation on the program of a new airplane development based on deep modernization of AN-74TK-200 multipurpose aircraft.
ANTONOV presented proposals on this Ukrainian-Canadian program to Ukroboronprom SC and Ministry of Strategic Industries of Ukraine. These proposals were mentioned in MoU regarding cooperation in the field of strategic security, defence, aerospace and munitions signed between Canadian Commercial Corporation and SC Ukroboronprom on June 1, 2021.
ANTONOV Company is prepared for detailed development of the project based on the technical requirements to a new airplane which have to be provided by the Canadian party.
Conclusion of intergovernmental agreement between Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and Government of Quebec has to give a start to this project development.
