Az olcsóbb, használt C/D-vel több esélye lenne a svédeknek, de a vége valószínűleg úgy is használt F-16-os beszerzés lesz, ha lesz belőle valami. Már több mint 10 éve mondják hogy ideje lenne típust váltani, mert már alig van repülőképes F-5-ösük. Több mint 40 éve vannak szolgálatban.

First Swiss Tiger fighter jet handed over to US forces...

The Swiss air force handed over the first of 22 Tiger fighter jets to the US armed forces on Monday. It was picked up at the Emmen military airfield in canton Lucerne. The US Navy will use the acquired Tigers for training purposes.

The Republic of China Air Force will hold a ceremony to retire its entire F-5E/F and RF-5E fleet at Hualien Air Base, eastern Taiwan, on July 4.

F-5s have been in service in Taiwan since 1965, and have recently served as jet trainers.

In 1973, Taiwan partnered with Northrop Corp. to produce the F-5E model domestically under what became known as the Tiger Peace Project. The first Taiwan-built F-5E rolled out the following year.

Taiwan manufactured a total of 308 jets under the project, including 242 single-seat F-5Es and 66 twin-seat F-5Fs.

The F-5 served as Taiwan's main combat aircraft from the 1970s through the 1990s before being reassigned for training purposes.
