Last week, the Czech Air Force's tactical air force reached another significant milestone when the Čáslav-based 211th Tactical Squadron was the first operational unit among all JAS-39 platform users to begin training in night refueling procedures.
This capability, for which the Swedish fighters had to undergo minor modifications, had so far only been verified on Gripens by test pilots from the manufacturer and the Swedish FMV authority. The Czech Air Force was thus the first to begin implementing this new capability into routine training, in cooperation with the Multinational Tanker Fleet of the IMF, which also includes the Czech Republic.
...
The minimum requirement for maintaining aerial refueling capabilities is set in the relevant NATO documents at 3 contacts every 6 months, but real experience has shown that due to the less than ideal location of the refueling probe on Gripens and the complexity of the entire procedure for this type, it is good to conduct training much more often. The experience of the Swedish Air Force shows that it is good to carry out at least one training flight with multiple contacts every 3–4 months.
