Az előadó, Stefan Engström is ott volt azon a Red Flag gyakorlaton, ahol "For example, the Gripens in version A in 2006 at the Red Flag exercise humiliated F-16 block 50+ aircraft with ten crashes on the first day of that exercise."

"Hungarian experience
General Ugrik said that he was not there to sell Gripen to Croatia. As an experienced pilot, he spoke about his experiences switching from the MiG-21 and MiG-29 to the Gripen platform. For full transition and integration, he says, it took only a year.
It flies constantly, seven days a week, 365 days a year , Ugrik says. The Gripen is so useful to the Hungarians that our neighbors also protect the airspace of Slovenia, and 14 Gripen, as many as their fleet has, are enough to carry out tasks in Hungary, Slovenia and three other countries at the same time.
Maintaining an aircraft is not complicated and once it is acquired, one can start with a smaller number of people working on its maintenance, logistics and communications. Over time, that number gradually increases to the optimal level , adds Ugrik."
