Ez tényleg jó kérdés, ráadásul komoly mennyiségről volt szó, többször korszerüsített gépekről. Még ha rottyon is voltak, a Boeing garantáltan lelkesen (és vastag ceruzával) hozta volna őket rendbe. The U.S. Navy awarded The Boeing Company a $1.3 billion contract March 19 for the purchase of 17 F/A-18 Super Hornets and delivery of a technical data package vital to the sustainment of the platform.
Delivery of the new Super Hornets is scheduled to begin in the winter of 2026, with final delivery no later than spring 2027.
“The Super Hornet remains a predominant aircraft in the carrier air wing and will continue to provide significant combat capability into the 2040s.”
Furcsa hogy ott van a direkt nekik kifejlesztett F-35 változat évek óta, aztán még 2024-ben is vesznek Hornetet, amivel 2040-ig számolnak mint típus úgy, hogy a stealth képesség jelen van több évtizede, oszt' mégis!
Ugye ugye...
Egyrészt miért ne számolnának vele, kidobni nem kell őket. Az F/A-XX vàltja majd. Másrészt, "esetleg" némi lobbi a Boeing mellett, az F-15EX szekere nem megy túl jól, SH meg még nem hagyott el alkatrészeket a levegőben...

The weapon has the capability to receive updated target coordinates mid-flight via two-way datalink communications. Using these network options, SDB-II allows airborne or ground controllers the ability to send in-flight target updates.

The Navy is set to field the Small Diameter Bomb Increment II on the F/A-18E/F after declaring Early Operational Capability (EOC) in October.

Erről a két összeütközött gépről van olyan papírkép fotóm, amit másolatban kaptam meg, mikor egy kossuthos osztálytársam kint járt az USA-ban és az egyik Navy bázison vezetett túrán vehetett részt, mint turista.
Akkor a buszból fotózta a hangárokat és ott állt a két sérült gép is.
