A Pentagon C-8 és D-3 sorozatú AMRAAM rakétákat rendel Ukrajnának a gyártótól 1,15 mrd dollár értékben.

Na kíváncsi vagyok, hány rakéta lesz ebben a csomagban!

A Pentagon hivatalos közleménye a megrendelésről ennyi:

Raytheon Missiles and Defense, Tucson, Arizona, was awarded a $192,000,000 indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract for purchase of Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAM). This contract provides for Raytheon purchasing fielded AMRAAM weapons from various sources. Work will be performed at Tucson, Arizona, and is expected to be completed by Nov. 29, 2024. This contract was a sole-source acquisition. Fiscal 2023 Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative funds in the amount of $7,688,220 are being obligated at the time of award. The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, Air Dominance Division, Eglin Air Force Base, Florida, is the contracting activity (FA8675-23-D-0001).

Certain modifications of AMRAAM missiles are being ordered by the Pentagon for Ukraine so that they can cover a distance of 160-180 kilometers. This is more than enough to hit Russian warplanes without entering the enemy's air defense zone. The farther, the safer it is for our pilots, and the more dangerous it is for our enemy," Ihnat said.

"Weapons and aircraft are completely different things. They must first be manufactured before they can be delivered. Aviation shouldn’t fly without payload so the stock of missiles needs to constantly be replenished. There is nothing strange about such orders and contracts," emphasized the spokesman for the Air Force.

"The PAC-3 MSE, the missile specialized against tactical ballistic missiles, costs about $7 million. There are 12 such missiles on one launcher. If one wanted to fill half the battery with PAC-3, this would amount to a cost of 168 million dollars."
