"Slovenian Air Force ready for shopping: Larger amounts adopted, helicopters bought and for the first time - transport plane
On November 20, the Slovenian Parliament adopted the Law on the Distribution of Funds for Investing in the Slovenian Armed Forces for the period 2021-2026. The law will provide an additional 300m euros for the next six years, or 50m euros more per year than originally planned for investment in the country's armed forces.
It was planned to spend a total of 780 million euros for the modernization of the Slovenian Army by 2026 in tranches of 100 million euros for the period 2021-2022, and then they will amount to 145 million euros a year until the end of the plan.
It is stated that Slovenia will thus invest in combat vehicles (EUR 408 million), military aviation (EUR 128 million), non-combat transport vehicles, logistics and medical equipment (EUR 65 million), air defense systems (EUR 65 million), communication and information systems. (40 million euros), infrastructure (40 million euros) and infantry weapons and other personal equipment for soldiers (34 million euros).
The law follows the previously presented plan from 2019 in the White Book of Defense, which in the area of aviation technology plans the procurement of short-range to medium-range air defense systems and the purchase of multi-purpose helicopters, most likely Airbus Super Puma . It is planned to reduce the number of types of aircraft in the air force, with the strengthening of the principle of using multi-purpose aircraft with the construction of a national capacity for air transport, for which, most likely, the C-27J aircraft has the greatest prospects."
