Canada: CC-115 has flown its final operational mission

The 442 Transport and Rescue Squadron, based in 19 Wing Comox, British Columbia, made the last operational flight for the CC-115 Buffalo on Jan. 15.

As a final operational flight, the crew conducted a flight within Search and Rescue Region Victoria.

Canada is replacing the CC-115 with the CC-295. 16 aircraft were ordered in 2016 and the first aeroplane was delivered in 2020.

USAF Outlines Next-Gen Mobility Goals In Short Notice Solicitations

The U.S. Air Force wants to start developing the requirements for its future refueling tankers and airlifters, and is giving industry less than two weeks to provide its input ahead of a March deadline for long-term budget planning.

Under the mobility umbrella, the Air Force released preliminary requirements for what it wants in its next-generation aerial refueling tanker, airlifter and mission generation systems.

Another RFI focusing on airlift highlights capability gaps in the current fleet of Boeing C-17s and Lockheed Martin C-5s and C-130s.

The U.S. Air Force’s plans for its next-generation airlift capabilities are starting to take shape, with Air Mobility Command (AMC) saying it favors a series of aircraft, rather than one single solution. With this, we may be one step closer to answering the question of how the service will go about replacing its fleet of modernized but Cold War-vintage C-5 Galaxy and more recent, but also out-of-production C-17 Globemaster III airlifters — and potentially other transport types, as well.
