    --- VÁLTOZÁS A MODERÁLÁSBAN ---

A források, hírek preferáltak.

The State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in the United States of Improved Mobile Subscriber Equipment Follow-On Support and related equipment for an estimated cost of $65 million. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress of this possible sale today.

The Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in the United States (TECRO) has requested to buy extended services provided under a previously implemented case whose value was under the congressional notification threshold. The original Foreign Military Sales (FMS) case, valued at $41.6 million ($0 in MDE), included services related to follow-on support for the Improved Mobile Subscriber Equipment (IMSE) and Experimental Force (EXFOR) system, including repair and return of equipment; management, replacement, and repair services; U.S. Government liaison support as required; contract engineering and technical support; logistics; contractor operation and management of the OCONUS depot, including repair and replacement; and other related elements of logistics and program support. This notification is for an extension of those same services for an additional two years. The estimated total cost is $65 million.

This proposed sale is consistent with U.S. law and policy as expressed in Public Law 96-8.

This proposed sale serves U.S. national, economic, and security interests by supporting the recipient’s continuing efforts to modernize its armed forces and to maintain a credible defensive capability. The proposed sale will help improve the security of the recipient and assist in maintaining political stability, military balance, and economic progress in the region.

The proposed sale will improve the recipient’s ability to meet current and future threats. The recipient will have no difficulty absorbing this equipment into its armed forces.

The proposed sale of this equipment and support will not alter the basic military balance in the region.

The principal contractor will be General Dynamics Mission Systems, located in Fairfax, VA. There are no known offset agreements proposed in connection with this potential sale.

Implementation of this proposed sale will not require the assignment of U.S. Government representatives; however, it will require the assignment of three contractor Technical Assistance Representatives (TAR) to the recipient to support equipment fielding and training.

There will be no adverse impact on U.S. defense readiness as a result of this proposed sale.

US Army’s new compact electronic warfare kit goes on everything from backpacks to balloons...

Formally known as the TLS-BCT (Terrestrial Layer System — Brigade Combat Team) Manpack, the system fills a longtime gap in the Army’s digital arsenal: It gives frontline troops on foot the ability to detect enemy radio transmissions, pinpoint their sources for precision strike and, in some configurations, jam the signal.
