Leonardo’s Falco Xplorer completes successful EUDAAS demonstration, paving the way for unmanned aircraft integration in European airspace...

Leonardo announces the successful completion of a landmark demonstration with its Falco Xplorer uncrewed aerial system, which took off from Trapani Birgi (Italy) airport to validate the European Detect and Avoid (DAA) technological demonstrator, part of the European Defence Industrial Development Programme (EDIDP) funded EUDAAS project.

The event, attended by high military and industry representatives from the five contributing member states (Sweden, Italy, Germany, France and Spain), marks a pivotal milestone for integrating large uncrewed aircraft into the European airspace alongside crewed aircraft, meeting critical needs in both civil and military sectors.

A propellernek nagy az átmérője, igy még ha bevonják is valami radar elnyelő bevonattal, valószínüleg nagyobb lesz a radarjele, mert a gázturbinát könnyebb eldugni a törzsben és lefedni a turbina lapátokat, hogy ne verje vissza a radarsugárzást.

France launches UCAV programme to complement future Rafale F5s...

The UCAV will be complementary to the Rafale, suited to collaborative combat and will incorporate features such as stealth technologies, autonomous control (with man-in-the-loop) and an internal payload capacity.

This stealth combat drone will contribute to the technological and operational superiority of the French Air Force by 2033.

The new UCAV will be derived from the achievements of the nEUROn programme, which was initiated in 2003 as Europe’s first stealth UCAV demonstrator with Dassault Aviation as the prime contractor. The nEUROn demonstrator, which featured a stealthy flying-wing design, first flew on 1 December 2012. Airbus Spain (formerly EADS-CASA), Hellenic Aerospace Industries, Italy’s Leonardo, Switzerland’s RUAG and Sweden’s Saab also participated in the project.

Airbus teams up uncrewed aircraft to fly joint surveillance missions

In a recent test flight campaign, Airbus demonstrated how its teaming intelligence software can be used to autonomously and dynamically manage a group of uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs) in real time. Thanks to this, operators on the ground or pilots in crewed aircraft can operate multiple UAVs simultaneously, relieving them from tedious tasks such as surveillance and inspection over vast areas and allowing them to focus on mission objectives.

During the demonstration, which was conducted in collaboration with Primoco, two different scenarios were tested using Airbus' AI-based automatic target recognition (ATR) software to monitor and detect threats, and to alert the ground station. Airbus and Primoco also successfully tested the integration of third-party applications to showcase the scalability of the teaming intelligence software to any UAS independent of manufacturer and its extensibility to other applications.

Airbus is now working on the next steps: to further mature its teaming intelligence software as a product that can be installed on any fixed-wing, rotary-wing, crewed or uncrewed aircraft available on the market. The same goes for the integration of third party software components.

MATARIS: KNDS France unveils its new line of remotely operated ammunition at IDEX 2025 ...
  • Short, medium, and long-range: KNDS France introduces a lineup of four vectors to cover a wide range of operational uses.
  • MATARIS is the result of record-time development of projects such as COLIBRI and LARINAE.
At the IDEX 2025 exhibition, KNDS France presents its latest remotely operated ammunition solutions: the MATARIS drone range, named after the Gallic projectile weapon designed to break enemy defenses. MATARIS consists of four types of remotely operated ammunition, covering short, medium, and long-range applications: MT-10, MX-10, MV-25, and MV-100 (the latter currently at the demonstrator stage).
The MT-10 and MX-10 are short-range solutions: a bi-rotor contra-rotating drone and a quadcopter, respectively. They can deliver a 550g controlled fragmentation military payload at a range of approximately 10 km, with an autonomy of 40 minutes. The MV-25, deployable by hand, can deliver the same payload at a range of 25 km thanks to its fixed-wing architecture. The MV-100 demonstrator extends this range up to 100 km, equipped with a turbine for high velocity and a 2.5 kg anti-armor warhead. This demonstrator is designed not only to neutralize heavily armored targets but also to conduct reconnaissance missions.
Versatile, easy to operate, and capable of engaging a wide range of targets, MATARIS represents the latest breakthrough from KNDS France in remotely operated ammunition.
