A hollandok által a Walrus-osztály utódlására beindított program.

2022.04.01. - Defense wants to send the tender request to the yards before the end of the year. This makes it clearer more quickly which of the 3 candidate yards will build the submarines. Only then will agreements be made about maintenance during the service life. The Materiel Preservation Department (DMI) in Den Helder has an important coordinating role in this regard.

In the package of requirements, the Netherlands wants to set specific requirements for the design in order to continue to provide its distinctive capabilities within NATO. According to Van der Maat, the new submarines must also be suitable for launching long-range missiles. Plans for possible reinforcement of the maritime clout are included in the Defense Memorandum.

The first 2 new submarines can be deployed in the expected period 2034-2037.

Hollandok is Barracudat vesznek...

A Holland Képviselőház is rábólintott.
Négyen lesznek, és már nevük is van: "The new submarines, named HNLMS Orka, HNLMS Zwaardvis, HNLMS Barracuda, and HNLMS Tijgerhaai, will replace the aging Walrus-class boats. They are expected to be delivered starting in the mid-2030s, with the first two submarines due within ten years of signing the delivery contract."

Naval Group signs contract to deliver four Barracuda Family expeditionary submarines to the Netherlands Ministry of Defense...

Today, Gijs Tuinman, Dutch State Secretary for Defence, and Pierre Eric Pommellet, CEO of Naval Group, signed the Delivery Agreement for the Replacement Netherlands Submarine Capability (RNSC) program. The ceremony was held at the DMI (Directie Materiële Instandhouding) in Den Helder. This decisive step marks the launching of the Orka-class program, following the signature of the Industrial Cooperation Agreement (ICA) between Naval Group and the Ministry of Economic Affairs.

The signature of the Delivery Agreement marks the start of the program for the replacement of the Walrus-class submarines currently operated by the Royal Netherlands Navy, following a thorough evaluation and bidding process conducted by the Materiel and IT Command (COMMIT) on behalf of the Netherlands Ministry of Defense.
