Airbus Racer speeds past 400 km/h...

Airbus’s Racer high-speed helicopter demonstrator, developed in the frame of the European Research Clean Sky 2 project, has reached its fast cruise speed target of 407 km/h (220 kts). On 21 June, less than two months after its first flight, the Racer demonstrator exceeded its level speed objective of 407 km/h (220 kts) by reaching 420 km/h (227 kts) in its initial configuration. In just seven flights and about nine hours of flight testing, almost all of the flight envelope has been opened.

Airbus introduces the light twin-engined H140 to its range...

We worked hand in hand with our H135 customers to bring their additional requirements together in the H140’s efficient design. It enables customers to benefit from a bigger mission-enhancing cabin space that was sized to an optimised engine performance for the best-in-class payload and range.

Airbus Summit 2025 - Stronger together: European innovation for helicopters

Airbus’ Racer integrates no less than 90 patented technologies. With all of these innovations on board, the demonstrator’s disruptive architecture and features are the result of outstanding cross-border collaboration at the European level. Racer had its maiden flight in May 2024. Just two months later, the demonstrator surpassed its level speed objective by reaching 227 kts (420 km/h) in its initial configuration, after only nine hours of flight testing.

As the autonomy of uncrewed aerial systems (UAS) increases, teaming these technologies with crewed aircraft will be vital. A European Union‑funded project, code-named MUSHER, served to develop building blocks for crewed-uncrewed teaming (CUC-T) capabilities for a future European framework of interoperability of assets. A first demonstration of these capabilities took place in October 2024, involving multiple helicopters and uncrewed aerial systems across different countries, all connected to a single crewed-uncrewed teaming network.
