A források, hírek preferáltak.

A WNYC (NYC public radio) velősen összeszedte, hol áll a város vezetése ma:

"New York City’s mayor is under criminal indictment. How does America’s largest city keep moving forward?

By Audrey Cooper, Editor-in-Chief, WNYC & Gothamist newsroom

For more than a year, it has been clear that investigators thought something was illegal about how Mayor Eric Adams’ administration was operating within City Hall and how his campaign was raising funds. But over the last few weeks, internal anxiety became public panic as one top official after another resigned from their public roles.

It would be a mistake to think that this week’s indictment of Eric Adams means federal investigators are done probing New York City’s government.

There appeared to be least five separate investigations swirling around the mayor at the time of his indictment Thursday:

The campaign finance issues involving Turkish officials, which formed the basis of the new indictment against Adams.

Another investigation involving former NYPD Commissioner Edward Caban, who resigned Sept. 12, his twin brother and other top NYPD officials.

An investigation involving former schools Chancellor David Banks, who resigned this week, his partner and Deputy Mayor Sheena Wright, and his brothers, Deputy Mayor for Public Safety Phil Banks and their brother Terence.

An FBI probe of top Adams’ adviser Winnie Greco.

On Friday, Mayor Eric Adams’ chief adviser, Ingrid Lewis-Martin was served a subpoena by the FBI and had her phones seized by the Manhattan DA’s office

That’s just the start. There are other probes that seem to be focusing on the city’s Sheriff’s Office and it’s leader, Anthony Miranda, as well as a recent raid on the man who was named just days ago to temporarily replace Caban, Interim NYPD Commissioner Thomas Donlan.

To put it succinctly: What a mess.

The drip, drip, drip of bad news for Adams is certainly terrible for New York City residents, but good news for a growing cadre of mayoral wannabees, possibly including former Gov. Andrew Cuomo who would be courting a lot of the same voters that make up Adams’ base. But as we’ve seen so often, getting indicted doesn’t mean getting convicted, and it certainly doesn’t spell the end of a political career.

Political questions aside, what we’ll be looking at day in and day out, is whether the Adams administration is effectively serving the people of our city."
