The Albanese Government will purchase 20 new C-130J Hercules aircraft for the Royal Australian Air Force for $9.8 billion. This will provide the Air Force with state of the art C-130 Hercules to meet the air transport needs of the future.

The new acquisitions will replace and expand upon the 12 Hercules aircraft currently operated by Air Force with delivery of the first aircraft expected from late 2027. There will be significant benefits for Australian industry from the expanded fleet size, with opportunities to construct facilities and infrastructure and to sustain the aircraft.

The estimated total cost is $6.35 billion.

This proposed sale will support the foreign policy and national security objectives of the United States. Australia is one of our most important allies in the Western Pacific. The strategic location of this political and economic power contributes significantly to ensuring peace and economic stability in the region. It is vital to the U.S. national interest to assist our ally in developing and maintaining a strong and ready self-defense capability.

The proposed sale will improve Australia’s capability to meet current and future threats by providing the Royal

Australian Air Force (RAAF) with replacements for its aging cargo fleet, guaranteeing a reliable airlift capability, and allowing the RAAF to improve its overall operational capability. Australia will have no difficulty absorbing these articles and services into its armed forces.

The proposed sale of this equipment and support will not alter the basic military balance in the region.

The principal contractor will be Lockheed Martin Corporation, Marietta, GA. There are no known offset agreements proposed in connection with this potential sale.

Implementation of this proposed sale will not require the assignment of any additional U.S. Government or contractor representatives to Australia.

There will be no adverse impact on U.S. defense readiness as a result of this proposed sale.

This notice of a potential sale is required by law. The description and dollar value is for the highest estimated quantity and dollar value based on initial requirements. Actual dollar value will be lower depending on final requirements, budget authority, and signed sales agreement(s), if and when concluded.

A 6.35 milliárd USD az most 9,42 milliárd ausztrál dollár (AUD), ezek szerint kb. ugyanabból a pénzből fél évvel később már csak kevesebb gép jött ki, így lett a 24-ből fél évvel később csak 20 gép.....

2 géppel kevesebb lett a szerződésben, meg egy gépnyivel többe kerül!
Az AUD/USD árfolyam meg jelenleg majdnem pont annyi, mint amennyi tavaly novemberben volt...
Meg szaros C-130-asokról beszélünk, és 330M USD darabárról. Ráadásul olyan típusról, amit aktívan üzemeltetnek az ausztrálok. Nem bevezetés alatt álló típusról.

Philippines to buy 3 C-130J-30 tranports...

The first C-130J is scheduled to be delivered in July 2026 and the second one in October of the same year. Meanwhile, the delivery of the third plane is in January 2027.
Defense observers said the contract for the three aircraft is worth PHP22.2 billion.

Német-francia Hercules század : 4700 repüléssel 10 000 repült óra.

2020 januárjától 2023 októberéig csaknem 44 000 utast és több mint 23 000 tonna anyagot szállított immár hét C-130J szállító repülőgéppel.

Ma hét C-130J (köztük kettő a KC-130J tanker változatban) már szolgálatban van. Ezt követi még három, így 2024 március végére összesen tíz géppel lesz teljes a flotta és ekkor a századnál szolgálók száma 300 fő körül lesz.
