History note
<div>
Dimancea was a Roumanian Artillery Officer. He seems to have had contact with George Kynoch MP (who had visited Roumania and been decorated with the Star of Roumania), and lived for a while in Witton near the Kynoch Gun Factory in Aston. At least one Dimancea is known with a 'Kynoch Gun Factory Aston' inscription. It appears that in 1889 1,000 were contracted for for trials purposes by the Roumanian War Ministry with the Gatling Arms & Ammunition Company, a company unconnected with Kynoch, which had been formed in 1888, but went into liquidation in September 1890. The strong but bulky revolver did not prosper, the patent lapsed in 1892 and in 1896 the French Mlle 1892 revolver was adopted by Roumania. This particular Dimancea revolver may be unique.

Physical description
<div>
Made to Captain Haralamb Dimancea's British Patent No. 9973 of 1885, incorporating his 'ratchet wheel' lock mechanism, separate firing pin and removable butt and trigger plate. Both cylinder and barrel swing to the left for loading and unloading. A most unusual example, since it has plain (not chequered) grips, no manufacturer's inscription and appears to have been left unfinished 'in the white' (it has suffered minor corrosion and has been cleaned in the past).
