A romániai fegyveres antikommunista ellenállási mozgalom főleg 1945–1962 között volt aktív. Az ellenállók kis, fegyveres csapatokba szerveződve rejtőzködtek, elsősorban a Kárpátokban, de Dobrudzsában is aktívak voltak.
Az önmagukat gyakran hajdúkként megnevező csapatok létezését a romániai kommunista rezsim minden eszközzel igyekezett titokban tartani, illetve amit nem lehetett ellhallgatni, azt útonállók akcióinak nevezték. A szovjet- és kommunistaellenes csapatok részben a volt legionáriusokból toborzódtak, de többségükben a kollektivizálásnak ellenálló parasztokból álltak. Ezenkívül a katonaságból is többen harcoltak az ellenállásban. A CIA igyekezett a Nyugatra menekült románok közül toborozni segítséget az ellenállóknak, de a kis számú, ejtőernyővel bejuttatott embereket gyorsan elkapták, amiben valószínűleg része volt Kim Philby kémnek is, aki az angoloktól információt szivárogtatott kommunistáknak.

1987. szeptember 13-ai baleset egy szovjet hadihajókat megfigyelő norvég P-3B Orion, és egy, azt arrébb tessékelni igyekvő Szu-27-es között. A vadász bal függőleges vezérsíkjába belekapott az Orion jobb külső hajtóművének propellere. Mindkét gép biztonságban hazaért a bázisaira.

The Dhofar rebellion, active since the mid-1960s and supported by South Yemen, continued to pose a serious challenge to the Sultanate. By this time, government forces under Sultan Qaboos, assisted by British advisers and officers working with Omani units and local firqat militias, were mounting operations across the mountains and desert to strengthen control over the province. The Special Air Service was involved in training troops and former rebels to improve the effectiveness of counter-insurgency operations, reflecting the combined military and civil effort to contain the insurgency.

"I was a WOMBAT DC back in the late 70s, early 80s. Yes they were loud! If the weather conditions were wrong we weren't allowed to fire on Salisbury Plain because of the risk from breaking windows in Salisbury.
With a following wind, the efflux from the venture would singe your eyebrows and lashes, even moustaches. Weapon could be fired from the portee but only a few times as the blast started to pop the rivets!"...
... "The flash doesn't last long but the rear danger area in peacetime was 293m! That went down to about 9m in wartime for troops under cover or about 15m or so in the open but my memory on exact numbers is a bit hazy on the latter!
Tactics were to shoot from an enfilade position where the gun and the signature are hidden by hard or soft cover from the enemy's axis of advance."...

The gun pit was covered by a "Cambrella", a frame work over which the cam net was draped. A sack was placed over the muzzle (to hide that 120mm black hole). Photo below has the cam net lifted up - otherwise you wouldn't see much!"
