Series production starts exactly according to plan at Rheinmetall’s Kassel plant

Though series production will begin in Germany, the bulk of manufacturing activity will move to the United Kingdom in 2023, principally at the British plants of Rheinmetall BAE Systems Land (RBSL) and the KMW subsidiary WFEL. The vast majority of Boxer vehicles destined for the British Army will be built in the UK. Rheinmetall’s Kassel plant is actively pursuing the transfer of know-how – specifically its special welding expertise – to British colleagues at RBSL.

ARTEC GmbH, on behalf of its parent companies Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) and Rheinmetall, has officially handed over the last of the Boxer armoured transport vehicles (GTK) ordered to date by the Bundeswehr to representatives of the Federal procurement agency (BAAINBw) and the Ministry of Defence.

The contract for the 2nd batch, which was concluded in December 2015, comprised 131 GTK Boxers and was worth EUR 478 million. All the experience gained with modifications from the successful Afghanistan mission have been incorporated into this A2 version.

Despite the pandemic, which in some cases had a significant impact on delivery dates, the contractual deadlines were met thanks to the constructive, pragmatic and trusting cooperation between the industry and the customer.

In total, the two parent companies of ARTEC GmbH have delivered 405 Boxer vehicles to the Bundeswehr. Among them were 72 Boxers in the ambulance variant, 65 command vehicles and 256 infantry group vehicles.

The combat upgrade commissioned by the Bundeswehr in 2017 provides for all Boxer vehicles, including those from the 1st batch, to be adapted to the A2 design standard.

Most recently, in February 2021, the corresponding upgrade of a second batch of Boxer command vehicles to the A2 standard was contracted, so that from 2024 the entire fleet of a total of 65 German Boxer command vehicles will be available at the latest level.

ARTEC GmbH was founded in 1999 and is a joint venture between Krauss-Maffei Wegmann GmbH & Co. KG and Rheinmetall.

The company coordinates series production and serves as the point of contact for all export issues relating to the Boxer.

Jó, hogy visszakérdeztél, mert nekem az volt meg, hogy 2018-tól már megrendelték a Boxert, de mint kiderült, közben már egyszer visszamondták. Különben 48 járműről (1zl.) volt eredetileg szó.

Errol volt anno egy video a Jane'stol vmi trade fair helyszinen, ott az Arteces elmondta, hogy a briteke valami A3-A4 lesz, mar nem emlekszem melyik, de az aprobb valtozasok melett kicsivel erosebb motorral megy ill. uaz a motor, csak tuningoltak rajta.

Szlovénok sajnos folytatják a Boxer beszerzést. Jó lett volna őket berántani egy Lynx vásárlásba.

A litván Boxerekhez hasonlóan Rafael Samson mk2 tornyokkal lesznek felszerelve.

Bisalloy Steels is pleased to announce the receipt of a significant order from Rheinmetall for highly specialised Australian Made BISALLOY Armour steel.

The steel, developed by Bisalloy to meet the protection levels required for the BOXER 8×8 Combat Reconnaissance Vehicles (CRV) and tested and certified by the German government and the BAAINBw (German Government testing authority) in collaboration with Rheinmetall Defence Australia, will be used for Rheinmetall’s Australian-built BOXER 8×8 CRV in the LAND400 Phase 2 program. This first purchase order marks Bisalloy’s firm presence in the German defence prime contractor’s global supply chain, and follows the successful completion of an extensive testing and evaluation program.
