Planned exercises with the participation of the Czech Air Force in 2021
Planned exercises outside the Czech Republic:
MAG TACDAYS - the very first exercise of this year will take place from March 5 to 15 in Germany, where four Gripen 211st Tactical Squadrons are to fly for two weeks. The aim of the MAG TACDAYS exercise is to practice mutual cooperation within the Multinational Air Group (MAG), for which one swarm of JAS-39C aircraft from the 211th Tactical Squadron is set aside for the Czech side.
SWIFT RESPONSE 21 - airborne troops exercises, designed to develop capabilities in the planning, preparation and conduct of airborne operations in the Alliance context. The exercise will be attended by a pair of CASA C-295M machines from the 24th Air Force Base in Prague-Kbely, which will support the airborne operations of the Chrudim 43rd Airborne Regiment from April 29 to May 13.
NATO TIGER MEET 2021 - a replacement for last year's canceled year, which will hopefully take place this year from 2 to 14 May at the Portuguese base in Beja. Only a pair of Mi-35 helicopters from the 221st Helicopter Squadron from Náměšť nad Oslavou should participate in the ACR Air Force.
TACTICAL LEADERSHIP PROGRAM - after more than six years, the ACR Air Force is returning to a prestigious training course in Albacete, Spain. Participation in the TLP was supposed to take place last year, when most of the courses were canceled due to Covid-19. In the as yet unspecified May deadline, three L-159A aircraft from the 21st Tactical Air Force Base in Čáslav should fly to Spain. The aim of the TLP courses is to prepare flying personnel for deployment in NATO's joint operations.
ARCTIC CHALLENGE EXERCISE 2021 - Probably four Gripen 211st Tactical Squadrons should fly to Sweden between May 29 and June 22. The relatively well-known Nordic exercise ACE this year is probably to some extent a replacement for the traditional exercise Lion Lion. It is intended not only to improve pilots in the conduct of NATO air operations and the training of air combat leaders, but also to train JAS-39 users to improve the conduct of combat operations on the Gripen platform.
ADRIATIC STRIKE 2021 - no need to introduce, an annual two-week exercise in Slovenia in the expected term of May / June, which aims to improve pilots and advanced flight attendants in profile skills. This is a reciprocal activity for the Ample Strike exercise, and the ACR air force should send a pair of L-159 aircraft from the 21st Tactical Air Force Base in Čáslav to the Slovenian base Cerklje.
MOUNTAIN FLIGHT 2021 - another of the annual exercises that do not need to be introduced. This year's training in France from 26 May to 17 June will be attended by three Mi-171Š helicopters from the 22nd Helicopter Air Force Base in Náměšť nad Oslavou and one Mi-17 plus one W-3A Sokol from the 24th Air Force Base in Prague-Kbelích. The aim of the exercise is to train helicopter crews in flying in complex tactical and geographical conditions on the limit parameters of the flight, usable in solving special cases in flight, such as engine shutdown.
ETAP-T - a training course for transport aviation, which will take place in June at the Italian base of Pisa. Its goal is to train air force crews in flying under complex tactical and geographical conditions, while certifying the crew for the MFO Sinai mission and meeting the capabilities of NRI 2021-2026 (NATO Readiness Initiative). One CASA C-295M aircraft from the 24th Air Force Base Prague-Kbely participates in the two-week course
SAR MEET 2021 - exercise at the German base Nordholz in August, which is an interstate cooperation of units assigned to the SAR system. The aim of the training is to transfer experience and unify procedures in rescue operations within the SAR (Search and Rescue service). One Mi-17 helicopter and one W-3A Sokol from the 24th Air Force Base in Prague-Kbely should participate.
ETAP-C - another of the transport aviation training courses, this time planned in Zaragoza, Spain in September. The aim of ETAP-C training courses is to train transport aviation crews in flying in complex tactical and geographical conditions. The course also serves to certify crews for the MFO Sinai mission and meet the capabilities of NRI 2021-2026 (NATO Readiness Initiative). The crew of one CASA C-295M machine from the 24th zDL in Kbely will take part.
NIGHT HAWK 2021 - NATO special forces exercise in the period from 25 September to 10 October in Denmark, where four Mi-171ŠM helicopters from the 22nd Helicopter Air Force Base in Náměšť nad Oslovou should fly together with members of the 601st skss. This is primarily training for SOTG (Special Operations Task Groups).
HELICOPTER TACTICS INSTRUCTORS COURSE - probably in the territory of Hungary, an HTIC course will take place in the period from 4 to 22 October, which should fly four L-159 aircraft from the 21st zTL in Čáslav and one Mi-171Š helicopter from the 22nd zVrL in Náměšti nad Oslavou. The course focuses on training in the tasks of air combat against slow and low-flying targets, which aims to share experience and benefit alliance partners in the training of helicopter crews. For the 22nd zVrL it is also the training of instructors for the needs of national training and the European Defense Agency and its Helicopter Exercise Program.
X - SERVICING EXERCISE - another exercise that follows on from last year in Wittmund, Germany, which was attended by three L-159A machines from the 212th Tactical Squadron. Last year, the exercise was canceled due to Covid. For a change, four Gripen 211th Tactical Squadrons should fly to this year's exercise in November.
ORANGE WARDEN 2021 - in an as yet unspecified date between October and November, three L-159T1 / T2 aircraft of the Čáslav 213th Training Squadron should fly to the Dutch air base in Leeuwarden. Once again, the co-operation of pilots in the international environment is expected, focusing on NATO procedures, planning DACT 1v1 and 2in1 missions, including Air-to-Ground operations.
