Sajtóértesülések szerint a török kormány láthatóan kitart azon tervei mellett, hogy az új F-16-os vadászrepülőgépek és a régebbi F-16-osok modernizálása mellett az Eurofighter beszerzésére is sor kerül. A török Hürriyet lap cikke szerint Yasar Güler védelmi miniszter optimizmusát fejezte ki a Habertürk TV-nek adott interjújában, miszerint a vadászgép megvásárlásáról szóló tárgyalások az európai partnerekkel a végéhez közelednek. Más jelentések azonban azt mondják, hogy kevés előrelépés történt.
