The Ukrainian side
claims that since the beginning of the war died seven russian generals, however, Russian authorities
confirmed the death of only one of them , the deputy commander of the 41st Combined Arms Army of the ground forces, Andrei Sukhovetsky.
The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation only twice reported losses since the beginning of the war in Ukraine. The last time - on March 25 - the department
announced 1351 dead Russian soldiers. According to
the estimates of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Russian losses reach about 20,100 people. At the same time, it is not specified whether we are talking only about the dead or also about the wounded.
Another source of information about the losses of the Russian side were the heads of regions or districts, as well as local media. As of April 5, Russian official sources published the names of at least 1,083 dead Russian soldiers, the BBC Russian Service
calculated. According to the publication, 217 (or 20% of all confirmed losses) of them are officers from a second lieutenant to a general.
