Technique- A nice explanation from our friend
Claudio Bigatti about the APS Trophy not integrated, but mounted laterally in support boxes on the Leopard 2A8.
In RED the blast shield that delimits backwards and laterally the limits of the load's orientation towards the threat, to protect the crew eventually out of the gate;
in YELLOW the MEFP; the BLUE bass under the MEFP is the part that rotates and orients the MEFP: the lower and upper incidence of the MEFP are controlled by one arm behind the brick;
in GREEN the MEFP ammunition depot: one turn shot, the system rotates towards the depot that opens a top door, the FLAT-CARRY mechanism dives in and takes a new MEFP and comes back ready. This recharge time (less than 2 secs ) this APS is one of the few Achilles heels;
in BLUETTE the detection radar.
Since the inclination of the MEFP in the drawing is accurate, it would also demonstrate the capability against some types of ATGMs with Javelin top attack, other systems with "flyover" of the NLAW type tank, less or zero, against any types with "deep angle attack" and/or drones or munitions released by them vertical of the tower ....
