Alright, so the Holmes & Watson video is being blocked worldwide, and I don't have the option to appeal because the copyright dispute has not been officially resolved by Sony. So here's what I think is happening.
For those who don't know, the way the Content ID system works depends on what policies the copyright holder of the material has set in place. They may monetise the claimed video and take the ad revenue for themselves, share the revenue, pr block it in certain places or worldwide.
When I first uploaded the Holmes & Watson review, it got picked up by the Content ID system and monetised on behalf of Sony, so the ad revenue would go to them, because that's the policy Sony was operating on. So of course I filed a dispute, thinking that if they didn't resolve it quickly, they would just ignore it like they have with other videos they claimed in the past.
However, what I think they've now done is seen a video criticising their piece of shit movie get almost a million views, and instead of simply resolving the dispute, they've changed their policies in the Content ID system to block all Holmes & Watson content, not just claim it. This way, noone can see it, I can't make any revenue from it (and neither can they), and I can't appeal the claim because they haven't actually resolved the dispute, so the option doesn't show up!
This is censorship, pure and simple. They're abusing the system to stop people shitting on their terrible movie. And I honestly have no idea where it's going to go from here. If/when the claim expires and I get the option, I'll be appealing it.
